Snake Game is a modern take on the classic mobile game of the same name. This extension developed by Kris10ansn lets you play Snake anytime you like without leaving your browser or having to open a new window. The game launches as a pop-up which you can then interact with and enjoy.
Here’s a quick tutorial on how to use the Snake Game extension on Chrome.
Chrome Web Store
The first step is to download the Snake Google Chrome extension. Because so many extensions carry similar names, the Chrome Web Store can sometimes be a little difficult to navigate. We’ve included an easy download link in the introduction of this article to bypass any confusion. Follow the link and hit Add to Chrome. I use the privacy and security-focused Brave browser. However, the Chrome Web Store integrates with any chromium-based browser, so I, along with Microsoft Edge users, am good to go.
Add to Chrome
Once you’ve clicked Add to Chrome, or in my case, Add to Brave, you’ll receive a notification alerting you that Snake has been added to your browser. From here, you’ll need to click on the Extensions icon to access your new extension. The icon you’re looking for is in Google Chrome’s upper banner and looks like a puzzle piece.
Head to Extensions
Click on the puzzle piece icon. You should now see a list of all the extensions you have added to your browser. Snake should appear under this list of active extensions. You should also see a banner alerting you that Snake doesn’t require any permissions to run. This means that the extension doesn’t have or need access to any utilities or sensitive information in order to run.
Run the Game
The last step is to run the game. All you need to do is click on Snake under your extensions. You should see a small pop-up open up over your other web pages. To start the game, press any directional arrow key on your keyboard. You’ll also use these to control the snake and collect food. The game keeps track of your high score so that you can tell whether you’re getting better. I’m currently stuck at 23, but I am nothing if not resilient. I’ll try for 25 when I’m done writing this how-to.
